The amazing Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has become the hot target for the rival clubs who are reportedly moving heaven and earth to lure away the super ace winger Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United. Barcelona FC for one is in the race along with Real Madrid. Both the clubs have gone on a rebuilding spree much ahead of the transfer season began for 2008.

Since Cristiano Ronaldo expressed his desire to play in the Spanish league both the clubs began moving pawns in the right direction. While Barcelona FC is ready to offload their ace striker Ronaldinho, Real Madrid is coming up with a £45million bid to sign up the magnificent winger Cristiano Ronaldo who is in top form this season with 18 goals to his credit.

Amidst all the enticing drama, Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson are playing their cards close to the chest, not dropping any hint whether they would loose or keep their prized possession until 2012, the period for which Cristiano Ronaldo is tied up with Manchester United.

The hot topic raging the football world is who is worthy of all the players to lift the Golden Ball - the Ballon d’Or. The contest has narrowed down to AC Milan attacking midfielder Kaka and Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo.
Both the players are amazing footballers. Both are twenty-two years old and both are eminently prized possessions of their respective teams.

Sir Alex Ferguson, the strategist and architect of Manchester United’s many a successful battles on the pitch feels that his prodigy Cristiano Ronaldo is al the more worthy to walk home with the Golden Ball - the Ballon d’Or. “The season Ronaldo had was unbelievable stuff. He is a match winner,” Sir Alex Ferguson said. However Kaka is also tipped as the hot favorite ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo.

But Cristiano Ronaldo’s passion and obsession is football and football. Nothing more nothing less! He said, “Someday I would like to be voted the best in the world and it would be a dream come true. But it is not an obsession. That’s not what drives me.” He further said that more than any individual title it is the feeling that his work is being appreciated is what drives him.

Turning philosophical, magnificent footballer Cristiano Ronaldo concluded saying, “Whatever has to happen will happen naturally. If, one day, one of these awards is destined for me, it will be welcome and I will be there to receive it.”

As for Manchester United fans and officials, it would be a great achievement if Cristiano Ronaldo captures the Golden Ball and stands behind Bobby Charlton, Denis Law and George Best all who won the European Footballer of the Year award.
